Q 1: What is
the religious opinion on the prevailing Sufism of today?
A: First:
It is wrong to say: the religious opinion on...? What should be said is: What is the Islamic ruling on...?
Second:
Usually those who are called Sufis nowadays commit acts of Bid`ahs (rejected innovation in religion) that leads to Shirk (associating others with Allah in His Divinity or worship) as well as other kinds of Bid`ah, such as saying “Madad ya sayyid (Help, O Master)”, and call upon the qutubs (“holy men”), and recite dhikr in unison using names of Allah which He does not call Himself by like saying “Hu, Hu (He, He)” and “Ah, Ah (a contraction of the word ‘Allah’)”. Whoever reads their books will be aware of many of their Bid`ahs that lead to Shirk, and other acts of Munkar (that which is unacceptable or disapproved of by Islamic law and Muslims of sound intellect).May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
